What goes in, and why

• Free-range Australian kangaroo. One of the leanest red meats available, high in protein and rich in iron and zinc while staying naturally low in fat. It is also a genuinely novel protein, which makes it useful for dogs that have reacted to more common meats.
• Pumpkin. Soluble fibre and beta-carotene, and what keeps the bar soft rather than brittle.
• Mint and parsley. Both freshen breath, and both add vitamins in a form that suits a very lean meat.
• Fennel seed. Traditionally used to ease wind and settle digestion.
• Coconut oil. The only added fat anywhere in the range, and used sparingly. It carries a clean source of energy and supports skin and coat condition.
• Vitamin E. Our natural preservative. An antioxidant that keeps the oils in the recipe fresh, which is how the pack stays good without anything artificial.

Kangaroo is so lean that on its own it is dry and hard work to chew. The pumpkin adds the moisture and fibre, which makes these a gentle chew that's soft on teeth. The three herbs are the digestive half of the recipe, doing quietly what a lean red meat benefits from most. How to serve

Serve as individual bars, or snap one into smaller pieces for training and rewards. They scatter well over a meal too. Keep treats to no more than 10% of your dog's daily intake, and always leave fresh water out.
